The Trip Back

We started the day by being awakened at 6:30 am by the hotel fire alarm. Mom and I thought it was the alarm clock, but when we unplugged it and put it in the drawer, we realized that it was the fire alarm. It turns out that someone burnt their toast and it started off of the fire alarm. Yeah, what a way to start my birthday!

After a nice breakfast with my brother and sister, we packed up the car - boys and all - and set out for home. Little did we know it would take us four hours longer than the expected six to get home.

Lunch at Wendy's. Aren't they so adorable!?!

Just out of St. George we ran into a huge snow storm. The traffic was going at max, 30 mph, but through several mountain passes it was stop and go. And I really do mean stop. At one point people, us included, got out of our cars and cleaned the snow off our cars and windshield wipers. It was rather scary though. We saw a jack-knifed truck, at least 10 trucks off of the road and several cars that had slid off the road. Luckily, we were safe and the boys slept through a good portion of all of this.

We spent the remainder of the trip in either snow or rain. It was so depressing to be driving 30 mph in the 80 mph zone. We arrived home later around 8:30 pm. The boys were real troopers through it all. They hardly complained and really entertained themselves for most of the trip. What a fun way to spend my birthday!
